Review: Rouge Dior Liquid Lipstick
When I heard Dior was coming out with liquid lipsticks I had to give it a go! My all time favorite beauty brand is Dior and I expect nothing but the best from them. First of all, the packaging on the the Rouge Dior liquid lipsticks is impeccable, chic, simple and true to the brand. I love how there is a window on the lipstick itself so you can see the color. I picked up three colors because I couldn't help myself. The colors I picked up are 221 Chic Matte, 862 Hectic Matte, and the classic 999 Matte which is my favorite of the three. I want to add, that I do not own any Dior lipsticks except these at the moment (because I have been on a liquid lipstick binge lately) so I do not know how they match up with the originals. I am planning however to purchase a classic and do an update on that!
So, the 999, if you are not already aware is the most classic red lip color you can find. I have been lusting over the Dior 999 for years but I never took the plunge because I felt I couldn't pull it off and I usually wear nude or pinky shades. However, I went ahead and purchased the Rouge Dior liquid lipsticks in 999 and I am absolutely in love. The 999 Dior lipstick color is a classic and a must have in your makeup bag. I only needed one swipe for the color payout and I also did not need a lipliner to get the edges even.
The other color from the Rouge Dior Liquid line I picked up is Chic Matte which is a beige nude color, it is a beautiful color which I believe is a true nude. Most nude lipsticks do not cover the pink undertone of my lips but this one did. I really wanted to love this color more but I definitely believe I should balance it out with smoky eye shadow because of my pale complexion. I am still planning on keeping this color and trying out different looks.
Last but not least, is Hectic Matte which is a dark purple color similar to the Kourtney color from the Kylie lip kits. Unfortunately the formula from the Kylie lip kits are too drying for my lips so I was excited to give the Dior ones a try. I only needed one swipe for the color payout and the color is amazing and perfect for fall/winter. The consistency of the Hectic Matte color felt more like my other liquid lipsticks.
Chic Matte and 999 felt like true lipsticks on my lips but all three have amazing color payout and do last for hours. The lasting power compared to Anastasia Beverly Hills is lacking, the lipstick stayed on for hours but through lunch and greasy dinner it did start coming off. The Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks have Dior beat on staying power. I can eat comfortably knowing my color won't come off when I wear my Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick. However, I would still be buying more colors from the Rouge Dior liquid lipstick line because of how comfortable they feel on my lips, the color payout, and the amazing wand (you don't need lipliner!). I also love how Dior incorporated different finishes into their line and classic colors that everyone loves like 999, and not to mention the beautiful packaging!
Update: I went to dinner with the 999, ate a plate of fajitas (carefully) and my lipstick is still going strong! Originally had tried the lipsticks with greasy food. I still feel like Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks have stronger lasting power than Dior but not by much. If you try the Rouge Dior liquid lipsticks let me know what color you picked up!
