Review: Drunk Elephant: TLC Sukari Babyfacial

Review: Drunk Elephant: TLC Sukari Babyfacial

I purchased Drunk Elephant products because I was seeing their products all over social media and I couldn't believe that there was so much hype surrounding this brand. One of my first Drunk Elephant purchases had to be the TLC Sukari Babyfacial and below I break down how it worked for me week by week.

Week 1- I put the tiniest amount all over my face and neck, left the mask on for 20 minutes like it advised on the bottle. The consistency was almost like a moisturizer but when you put it on it goes on clear, I didn't see any residue. After about 5 minutes I could feel a tingling sensation which scared me at first! I thought I was having a reaction to the Babyfacial but it went away fairly quickly so I kept it on. After the 20 minutes were up I promptly removed the mask and followed with the Marula oil. I didn't add anything else to my skincare routine that night because it was my first time adding an acid to my routine. My skin was glowing, right away I noticed the difference in texture, I also didn't notice any redness or irritation.

Week 2- Followed the same regimen, kept my skincare simple in the morning, no acids and added the Babyfacial at night. Cleansed my skin with a gentle cleanser, followed with the Babyfacial for 20 minutes and rinsed off. I immediately applied the Marula Oil, I feel like the Marula oil calms my skin down and avoids any irritation. Noticed my skin felt softer the next morning and my makeup went on beautifully.

Week 3- This week was a hard one, again kept my skincare simple but this time around I noticed redness and irritation on my cheeks which is my sensitive/dry area (I have Combination Dry skin). I also want to add that I left this on for a little longer than 20 minutes because I wasn't paying proper attention to the time (I think this is where I went wrong). I applied the Marula oil but this time it didn't seem to calm my redness. At this point I was freaking out but I decided to remain calm, do some chores around the house and wait to see how my skin looked afterwards. Thankfully the irritation subsided and the redness went down, my skin was still glowing. I was still happy with the results but my dry cheeks were not too happy.

Week 4- I skipped this week because I realized my skin needed time off and although I have been loving the results of the Babyfacial I have to listen to my skin and let it rest.

Week 5- Took another week off because I was testing out another product, review coming soon!

Week 6- This time I used 1 and 1/2 pump of the Sukari Babyfacial on clean skin for a little under 20 minutes (I watched the clock like a mad man). I was originally only going to use the Babyfacial on my t-zone because I was honestly scared of irritation but I decided against it, after all how will I know if my skin will be able to handle this for future use? I am happy to report that my skin handled it quite well, only minimal redness. Immediately after washing off I saw a more glowing complexion and smooth skin. By the way, the Marula oil works great in conjunction with the Babyfacial and I'm afraid of running out!

Final Thoughts: The instructions say that this may be used 1 to 2 times per week for 20 minutes. I am, however, planning on using it once a week or once every two weeks because I am also testing out other products and do not want to irritate my skin. The few days after using my Babyfacial I also avoided all acids including Vitamin C (ascorbic-acid), please be aware that it is important to stay away from other acids in order to avoid irritation and I also advice to keep your skincare very simple and don't forget to wear sunscreen! I also believe this product is worth it, it seems pricey but you can't beat an at home facial. Although I had one scary experience with this product I am so glad that I did not give up on it! I can see why everyone loves Babyfacial so much and I highly recommend it. I do not have any other skincare products like the Sukari Babyfacial in my regimen and I am enjoying the results. Babyfacial will also last me a long time since it is not meant for every day use. I love how smooth and glowing my skin looked, it also made my makeup so much easier to apply, less textured skin! I plan to continue to use it and if you want an update let me know!
